Need help learning how to set crystal rivets?
We have added instructions to assist you in setting crystal and stone rivets.
You will use  Poundo Board #3461 under the turquoise and Rivet Setter #8100 or you can use the Decorative Rivet Setting Kit to set these exciting decorative rivets.
These rivets are the latest in "faux" fashion. They can be added to belts, tack, handbags, purses, spur straps, dog collars, leashes, chaps, cell phone cases and much more.
To give you an idea of what you can do with these decorative rivets we have added photos of projects that you can create with synthetic crystal rivets or synthetic stone rivets.
We also carry Pyramid shaped rivets as well as diamond shaped rivets. the pyramid rivets or diamond rivets are a great accent to all the items you are making with your crystal rivets or your stone rivets.
These rivets need a special shaped setter which is also available now.

Setting Decorative Rivets

These rivets work best on 9oz leathers, they tend to be a little sloppy on leathers that are thinner than belt type leathers.
Along with the rivets, other tools needed to set these rivets in a belt include:
a hole punch...either a rotary or drive punch:
3003-00 MINI PUNCH SET
3240-00 DELUXE ROTARY PUNCH
(if you use a drive punch you need an acrylic cutting board under it so you do not ruin the punch tubes)
3464-00 CUTTING & TOOLING BOARD 12 x 12

You need a mallet of some sort (NOT metal)

8100-00 RIVET SETTER

Step 1: Mark Position for rivet on leather with pen or stylus
(or use decorative rivet craftaid for designs)
Step 2: Punch hole in leather - (use 3/32" hole punch for leathers up to 10oz.)
Step 3: Place decorative crystal or stone stud on poundo board/protecto board surface.
Position hole in grain front side of leather over stud.
(you want to make sure the crystal or stone is on the smooth or top of the leather -
the cap will be on the back ...see rivet setting picture above for assistance)
Step 4: Place cap over prepunched hole and stud (post) on the back side of the leather.
Step 5: Position concave end of setter over rivet cap and strike setter firmly with
rawhide or poly mallet until rivet is set.
NEVER use metal hammer on your tools!
