Beginning Leather Craft Class -
Learn to carve Leather

Tuesday or Thursday Nights 6-8pm
With Wayne (owner of Standing Bear's Trading Post &
Leather by WC) Purchase our in store beginners leathercraft kit & the first 3 months of your class are $20 a month,
the remaining 3 months are FREE!

The class is one night a week for 6 months,
Rotations run from Janurary thru June and July thru December.
Names for the waiting list are taken 2 months before the rotation of classes begins.
Names for Jan-June Rotation are taken Mid November,
Names for July-Dec. are taken in Mid May.

The Beginning Leathercraft Class is a class with step by step instruction on the Use of Leathercrafting Tools, Transfering Carving Patterns, Carving Leather Designs, Stamping on leather, Coloring (Dyeing/staining and finishing) Leather, Hand Sewing Leather, Lacing leather using Double Loop (or Double Cordovan) Lacing technique, and Setting hardware for leather projects etc.
Beginning Leathercraft Classes are designed for those who have not in the past carved or tooled leather.
Students in the beginning leatherwork class do not create finished projects, they use remnant leather to learn the techniques during the course. They can and some do chose to work on projects outside of class depending on their skill level but the class itself is geared toward getting the students proficient at the process and techniques of carving and tooling leather.

Intermediate Leather Craft Class:

If you have done leathercraft work before
and need a refresher... this class is for YOU!

The Intermediate Leathercraft class is for those who have some experience
in leather carving and stamping and would like to further their knowledge or have a refresher. It consists of making projects of the students choice with assistance from the instructor as to construction of projects, making leather projects from scratch etc. Materials for Projects are paid for by students as a part of the Intermediate Leather Class - Instructors Fee is $20.00 a month

Advanced Leathercraft Class:

Wednesday Nights 6-8pm

Purchase your Materials & make exciting projects.
The Advanced Leather Craft Class consist of Projects such as Photo Albums, Belts From Start to Finish, Holsters, Checkbooks, Purses, and other Projects chosed by the individual student.
In the Advanced Leathercraft Class the students work independantly.
Materials for Projects are paid for by students - Instructors Fee is $20.00 a month

Leathercraft Students Creations

This Leather CD case was carved with the design that comes with the CD case kit it was double loop laced.
The carving background was colored with black dye, lettering and acorns were resisted
using super shene and the entire case was stained with Antique Stain.

A leather purse created from a Loafer Purse Kit.
The background of the leather carving was colored with black dye.
The floral carving was resisted with Super Shene and the entire purse was stained with Antique Stain.

The carving was filigreed and backed with pink lambskin.
The project was stained with Antique Stain.
