    Beginning Leather Craft Class -
Learn to carve Leather
 

Tuesday or Thursday Nights 6-8pm
With Wayne (owner of Standing Bears Trading Post &
  Leather by WC)

Class Schedule:
Duration: One Night a Week for 6 months
Rotations: January to June and July to December
Sign Up List: Opens two months before each rotation
Call in date is NORMALLY the 2nd Monday or May & 2nd Monday of November (call and confirm call in dates)

Class Instruction Fee:
$20 per month
Special Offer: If you purchase your initial set of tools from us, the fee is $20 for the first 3 months, and the last 3 months are free. 

Class Overview:

Step-by-step instruction on leather tool usage, carving, and tooling western floral patterns, Geometric stamping on leather, Coloring techniques (Dyeing/staining and finishing), Carving, tooling, and lifting Roses and Oak Leaves, Setting hardware, Using a strap cutter, hole punch, setting rivets & snap, using other hand tools in leather

 
 Class Structure: 
Students in the beginning leatherwork class do not create finished projects, they use remnant leather to learn the techniques during the course. 
They can and some do choose to work on leathercraft projects outside of class depending on their skill level but the class itself is geared toward getting the students proficient at the process and techniques of carving, tooling and stamping leather.

Call the beginning of May or November to confirm sign up date, 
On the date of sign up you will provide information on prepaying for the kit or confirming existing tools
Choose your preferred class night (Tuesday or Thursday)

The Intermediate Leathercraft class gives priority to students transitioning from our Tuesday and Thursday Night beginner sessions and loyal customers who rely on Standing Bears Trading Post for their leathercraft supplies.
The Intermediate Leathercraft Class guides students in crafting personalized projects. Receive expert assistance in project construction, pattern drawing, and creating leather items from scratch from Al Stohlman Award recipiant Wayne Christensen
Materials for Projects are paid for by students as a part of the Intermediate Leather Class

 


Advanced Leather Craft Class:

Wednesday & Friday Nights 6-8pm
With Wayne from Leather by WC

The Advanced Leather Craft Class is an extension of our Monday night intermediate leather class.

Priority for the Friday night Advanced Leathercraft Class is given to students transitioning from our Monday Night Intermediate sessions and loyal customers who depend on Standing Bears Trading Post for their leathercraft supplies.

The Wednesday Night Class consists of a permenant set of students, with limited openings. Opportunities to join this class arise only if a current member is dropped, chooses to leave, or, unfortunately, passes away. We cherish the sense of community in our class, and any openings are considered with care and respect.

This hands-on experience as a part of the Advanced Leather Class includes crafting projects like Photo Albums, Belts From Start to Finish, Holsters, Valet Trays, Purses, and more, chosen by individual students. The leatherwork class fosters independent work, allowing students to delve into their chosen projects with skill-building guidance from Al Stohlman Award recipiant Wayne Christensen.

Materials for Projects are paid for by students as a part of the Intermediate Leather Class

This Leather CD case was double loop laced.
The carving background was colored with black dye, lettering and acorns were resisted  using super shene and the entire case was stained with Antique Stain.

The background of the leather carving was colored with black dye.  The floral carving was resisted with Super Shene and the entire purse was stained with Antique Stain.
